Re: Balance Issues 1942 2nd Ed. Re-Visited

I had a game last weekend and my friend played the Axis. We used the new setup and the tournament rules, but no bid as we both don't like it and alternate with the Axis each game . Last time I had the Axis and won - but it was a close shave. This time Moscow fell after three rounds  He took ev...

Re: New Rules in the reprint of A&A Anniversary Edition?

Hello Krieghund, thank you for your immediate reply! Good to know that the new artillery pieces made it into the game. I ordered the nation-specific pieces for Italy from the 1940 Europe edition at an online-shop. What would we do without the internet  Perhaps Wizards of the Coast publish the r...

New Rules in the reprint of A&A Anniversary Edition?

Hi everyone, I just noticed that Wizards of the Coast announce the reprint of the famous Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition, stating on their website that: »Upon its release nearly a decade ago, the Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition became an instant classic! Now this deluxe board game, designed by L...

Re: Balance Issues 1942 2nd Ed. Re-Visited

I didn't have the opportunity to try the new setup proposed by Larry Harris yet. But reading all the comments and looking at the map my first thought was: Why had the German bomber to move all the way from Germany to Ukraine? The goal was to get it out of range to harm the Royal Navy. Then placing i...

Re: Who owns COTE?

I can confirm Krieghunds reply and recommend the website. I recently ordered and received a new set of tokens from the Eagle Games version of COTE (I think they are way more beautiful than the old ones) for my MB game. It really worked well and even though they sent it from the US to Germany I recei...

Re: 1941 as a starter/intro game: What works and what doesn't

The lack of money in the 1941 game is really disturbing - it has a side effect that probably was not intended: losses weigh much heavier than before because they cannot be replaced. I have not tried it yet but I just came up with an easy solution to fix it: Just double the amount of income and see h...

Re: Have a Look at WAR ROOM

Conventional wisdom has got it that you should never judge a book by its cover. My first thought after I have seen the new War Room Website was: Card box counters instead of figurines?!? A round game board? What the heck is he doing??? But after years of playing Axis & Allies (from 1984 edition to 1...

Re: Leaders and Governors

Hi Flashman, once again I can assure you that I value your ideas as a source of inspiration to new, but somehow simpler rules in my games. And I agree with you upon the ability of a leader to reroll combat dice instead of rolling his own dice. How about adapting a rule from Shogun aka Samurai Swords...
