adding terrain modifiers to future 3rd edition

If there is ever a 3rd edition for Global/Pacific/Europe, it would be great to include terrain modifiers. Modifiers could be printed directly onto the board. They would be treated as "free" infantry units, but would be only effective when someone was attacking the territory and only if the owner had...

Liberating France

Regarding the liberation of France and the placement of French units as a result (see "If and when the territory of France is liberated by the Allies, the player controlling France places 4 free French infantry units on France." in the Europe rulebook): Since those units are placed on the liberator'...

Re: Upgrade a minor IC to a major - immediate or delayed eff

My understanding is that all builds are placed at the end of your turn during the build phase and that facilities built this turn cannot be used until after this turn. That would mean that the most you could build at the upgraded factory this turn would be three units.

sea zone 11 and Mexico

On my Pacific 1940 board, a small portion of Mexico extends below the border between sea zones 10 and 11. Looking at the map, it seems likely that the line between these two sea zones was intended to intersect with the border between the Mexico and Southeast Mexico territories. However, I can find n...

Re: Japan....can they win the game on thier half?

Given average die rolls, my opinion is no. Japan needs a little bit of luck or some Allied mistakes to win. That being the case, I win less with my old-school "textbook" Japan than I do with some new approaches that I've been using of late.

Re: Alpha +4

I have been play testing a 4 player variant that speeds up gameplay dramatically. European Axis (German + Italy) Russia Japan Allies (USA, UK, China, France, ANZAC) I think this would work well. Along with these cost adjustments: Tactical bomber 10 Transport 6 Submarine 7 Destroyer 8 Cruiser 10 Car...

Re: Lack of playing pieces

Folks over at AxisandAllies.org forums are reporting that Wizards of the Coast is sending out supplemental pieces for this game, including: * For each nation: 6 INF, 5 ART, 2 tanks, 2 fighters, 2 subs, 3 cruisers, 3 transports and 2 battleships * 10 dark and 20 light chips of each color I don't kno...

Re: Limiting naval builds to IC level

I agree with this from a realism perspective and I would even extend it to the production of aircraft and cruisers in addition to capital ships, but to account for historical fact (yes, not always done) you would then have to upgrade Southern France and Normandy to major ICs to account historically ...
