The Great War

Post by Discovery One » Sun Mar 04, 2007 3:20 am

Y'know...

I'd really like to see a Great War version of Axis & Allies... That would be wicked...! Little plastic biplanes, derigibles, Big Bertha, doughboys, those weird tanks! How would you play Russia, with the Revolution and all? Or the US, what with not entering until the thing was almost over? How to simulate mustard or chlorine gas? Trench warfare? The influenza pandemic? I dunno, but it would be so cool....

This is how US is played in A&A Revised, because ships only move 2 spaces, and there is a lot of sea-zones, US will usually not enter any fighting until the war is almost over.

I have always been interested in World War I but I feel that from a gaming perspective the conflict wasn't very mobile. Therefore it might lack some of the excitement of the other A&A games.

Just my opinion.

You're probably right, AC, in addition to the problems with gaming WWI as I noted. The Western Front was pretty much stagnant throughout the war. Nonetheless... it would be very cool! What would you call the game? "Mayhem & Mustard Gas"? "Kaisers and Camouflage"? "Aces & Fokkers"?
