In Churchills WWII bookserie he writes that it takes 6 month to transfer and establish a full operational airforce in Egypt. To symbolize this planes should return back to their starting teritory at end of combat. If you want to rebase planes it should be done in non combat movement.

By the way, how many planes will a figther unit represent?

2,000 front line planes approx.?
We really need an Axis and Allies World War one game so i can play that on August 1st, 2014.

Just thought map designers might like a peek at the Asia Engulfed map:

Interesting that it uses the idea of islands as "nodal points" between sea zones.

The nodial islands creates a problem with defence against invasions, as several seazones will now have to be defended.
Planes based on the islands also become more usefull/powerfull, as they will be able to cover more space.

PS: any 'work in progress' from the team we might get a peak off?

Who is the current map guy, and how can I hook up with him?


I'd really love to help out in this area, and think I could be of some use to you guys. Here is that baseline projection I posted in Larry's section. ... elkok2.gif

I went through great pains to maintain as much accuracy and relative distance as possible, but it's already highly abstracted from Mercator so it would be pretty easy to modify.

What sort of world map do you guys want?

Let me know and I'll make it for you. If you could provide feedback based on the projection I linked that would make the job a lot easier. (Ex. "Poland is too small, make it bigger" or "strech South America" things like that.) The graphics polish is easy to do once we have the basic projection down. I know people with some skills in that department too, if we don't have a go to guy lined up.
