okay:

That's a bit strong from someone who booted Yoper off the .org boards for daring to stick up for poor old Flashy.
I joined this board precisely 1 month and 6 days after you did.

In the first case Yoper was actually doing a 'shout out' and i don't allow that because it interfered with the thread and became a hijack of the same.

In the second case it wasn't until 6-8 months ago that you decided to all of a sudden post all sorts of vitriolic ideas under the guise of 'objective critique'

Also, I can only speak for myself and your comments ware targeted toward me (e.g Impertinent Leader) How in the world do you expect anybody else but me to answer you when you make a comment like that? Of course i take issue because its not directed to anybody else but me... so what else am i supposed to do??

If you start calling Nuclear for example "Pukecular" then he would probably complain as well.

Cant you just make your own maps and just be happy with that? does everything have to involve.... gee Rio De Oro is too large... the roundels must have a star.... all that rubbish has no bearing on the map because it is meant to be played with rules and the rules are dictating how fun it is to play. The map itself is merely a representation of the rules and aesthetics are very important because it it looked ugly nobody would want to play on it.

The use of map are only a utility to facilitate the movement of pieces. Not one of your 'complaints' have any measurable significance on the 'fun factor' for the varient

But to me it's only "fun" if it has some reflection of reality, not just borrowing a basic theme of World War Two.

I'm sorry if my sense of humour doesn't work for you, we're from different hemisphers after all, but I assure you no harm is meant by it. If we both make people laugh by scoring points off each other where's the harm in that?

Its the same thing when a very small dog keep nipping at the heals of a very large dog... its fun and cute for a while then the larger dog has to eventually bite back. All that Impertinent Leader. wisecracks about my issue with roundels, etc... type of stuff starts bugging me after a bit. I thought 'court jesters' weren't of much use in modern society. Am i wrong?

IL and Flash:

I am the silver and forked-tongue wise-cracking smartass here with my comments coming whenever 2 people go back and forth on certain issues that come across as minuscule or mundane to the rest of us.

That groundwork being laid, I can't believe Flashman, the master of maps said he is in a different Hemisphere than IL when you both live in Europe--that is the same Hemispehere, is not Mr. Map?--and I can't believe you, IL, didn't thrash him for it.

Also, "precisely" you joined 32 days after he did. The use of the word months when defining the precise time frame of joining this site is like having Rio De Saharra Oro misplaced on a map. Depending on the month and the fact that 2004 was a leap year, it could have been anywhere between 30 and 32 days difference in your joining after IL. At time I posted this IL is averaging 2.06 posts per day since joining and you only .39 posts per day. So IL could have posted up to 65 posts before you even joined...(didn't really check, but I think that's more posts than all of your Map Scale posts to date!!!!).

But, I have no room to talk, because I joined imprecisely 8 months and 23 days after IL, and 7 months and 17 days after Flashman.

Actually I have had some expirences with Flashman bashing my first ever map. All I can say about that is that it did not make me want to improve it or change it.

I started a bunch of projects but never finished them. The negative tone on the forum here is enough to discourage new people from posting. Everytime someone posts a map, there appears to be a huge debate between Flashman and IL. Really but of them make some good valid points.

I agree, you guys are funny...its like calling the kettle black...who friggen cares if anyone likes your flavor of game. If you like it, isnt that all that matters.

so my maps look like shoots and ladders, big deal, I love what I have done even if nobody else can appreciate it...If you cant appreciate the time and effort that goes into someones passion, then shut up...its like the ugly child that has inner beauty, or the beautiful child that is ugly on the inside.

IL, you kicked yoper off of .org??? your power happy on your rules and what you "allow"

I am quite shocked if that is true...

personally, I like flashes humor, very dry and I am personally glad he posts here. He brings a freshness, even if it seems abrasive at times...it is NO MORE abrasive than anyones elses comments at times, so lighten up and appreciate the fact that we can post without power happy mods...buahahahahahaha, even if I am the mod...thats what I can not stand about commercial message boards.

the person who has the final say is Larry, so if it bugs you THAT much, then email him, not me, because I only boot porn / nokia spammers.

PS Il is in southern california, and not germany...Larry made a similar assumption and adlertag set him straight...just like I am from western boogerland ;)

I was only responding to him when he pulls out the "Impertinent Leader" type of thing. He goes a bit too far with something thats obviously a subjective thing and he treats his own persuasions and inclinations as some objective truth. The worst part is his own work is not very well versed in that regard. For example: I would never tell elbowmaster HOW to paint his miniatures when i myself never even attempted it before or just got started. And I don't tell Kobe Bryant how to shoot a basketball.

I never said your maps look like this. I said such a map that had too many territories "tied" together with too many rail lines led to the aesthetic of 'chutes and ladders'.

Remember i bought 3 maps from you and none of them have any rail lines.

I think you confused some proposed idea of what you may have posted for an idea for advanced axis and allies.

Also, you don't know the Yoper story and it would be better to ask and gain an understanding before presumed judgement.

I respect Flashman because he does demonstrate a desire to make axis and allies better in his own way and that goes way beyond anything i would ever have against this man. I don't really hold a grudge anyway.

is that fair enough??

quick interject...

Post by elbowsanchez » Thu Sep 06, 2007 6:42 pm

well I appreciate all you folks and what you bring to the community, nobody will ever be able to state about the lack of seriousness and sometimes humorous tact on this forum...

I think if Flash really had dispite and no respect for you, he could have called you imperious aSShoLe...

Il, we have known of each other far long enough to get past any issues we have, which I cant think of any other than we havent met face to face and you by far have made a far better effort than I have in that regard.

I mainly interjected in this post to bring it down 1 level, and to remind the readers, lurkers (like myself), to honor others strong feelings about whatever.

Axis & Allies has brought us here. period...the rest is just fluff...

remember this is an idea think tank, take as you wish, leave what not interests you.
