Ok, I just discovered this site. Wow, those pieces are amazing!!! The plans on stands, the carriers. Simply great. How did you get them or make them ? I have made my own maps through the years, but I love the idea of adding/making painted pieces, but to be honest, its looks very difficult. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for the information.

Here is a link to my maps. Just finished the '42 map last week. http://picasaweb.google.com/116761181684215632172

Nice work AAGator! Thanks for sharing!

Years of collecting has come up with most of my AA stuff now.

Infantry is Axis & Allies Miniatures.
Tanks are from GHQ Models.
Some of the Artillery are GHQ. 88's mainly.
You can use GHQ Destroyers as they are close in scale.
The Japanese Carrier mods where made using an exacto knife and jewelers file.
Basic paint scheme on most everything but have also noted some really great detailed units from allworkandnoclay
Fortess America cities are used as MAJOR IC's (idea from Kreighund)
Some of the Bombers are AA Miniatures War @ Sea edition.

Thanks for the information. Also, thanks for the positive comments on the maps. I may start making a global map using wood stain, but that is a something in the future when I have the free time.

I will look into the miniatures option. I have seen the incredible work that allworkandnoclay has done. That level of detail is mindblowing.

Thanks again for posting the pictures. -AAgator

Wood

Post by elbowsanchez » Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:39 am

Those painters are incredible. Variable, also has detail unmatched. From what I have seen, they set a very high standard in detail and skill.

Thought about a wood board using cut outs that fit like in a puzzle, you know like the wood cut out state map. Certainly a project for the man cave. Don't have one at the moment, but can see getting a band saw to do the cut out. Was thinking that when a country gets taken, just switch the cut out to the specific country. Similar to how the PC game changes the control by changing the color to match the invader.

Your ideas and execution are inspiring.
