Submarine - Strikes: "On Station"

Closing in... This will be a slower and more deliberate process. It starts with Submarines and moves on from there. This is how I see it. Tell me what's wrong or right about each section. It's in your hands.

OK - interesting concept. I like this.

On another subject: Does each sub get 2 chances to get 1 hit, or can each sub actually get 2 hits? If 2, can a single sub target 2 different vessels? Are all targets selected before any rolls are made, or can you select the target for each roll as you go?

I’m thinking a single sub can hit two ships. Yahtzee
I’m thinking targets indicated BEFORE die roll.

Great rules!

Larry, these sub rules are fantastic. Simple, clear and concise. Love 'em.
Each destroyer, cruiser and aircraft (fighters and bombers) present can also roll up to 2 dice.
I read this twice and then noticed cruisers were slipped in there. Could you tell us why you chose the cruiser to be included with the other sub killers? If it's not a typo, why is the BB omitted from this phase?

I can see a Cruiser participating in ASW activities. I can’t see a Battleship however.
What are your thoughts on the Cruiser. At this point the Cruiser is kind of touchy…
I must admit I’m not 100% convinced they (cruisers) should be able to hunt for subs. There’s scene in Das-Boot where the Brit Cruiser almost cuts them in half. If anyone has any related data to this particular issue I’d love to hear it.

As far as I know, cruisers generally were not outfitted for anti-submarine warfare.

They are (were) used in this task. Remember thay are still one of the faster ships and light cruisers performed similiar duties as escorts for convoys. Ill post some evidence.
We really need an Axis and Allies World War one game so i can play that on August 1st, 2014.

perhaps Cruisers and Battleships could be used only during the "Detection" phase of ASW, the "killing" part would fall exculsively to DD's and aircraft.

getting to complex? :?
