Submarine - Strikes: vs Carrier

Closing in... This will be a slower and more deliberate process. It starts with Submarines and moves on from there. This is how I see it. Tell me what's wrong or right about each section. It's in your hands.

Submarine-Strikes:

Damaged Aircraft carriers cannot launch or retrieve aircraft. Aircraft on damaged carriers cannot search for subs in a sea zone.

I believe that if a sub attacks an aircraft carrier, it should win automatically. This is why the allies had to have destoryers and escorts to prevent subs from destorying the flag ships. That is just my two cents.

Perhaps capital ships cannot be specifically targeted if Destroyers are present. They are considered to be screening the task force. What do others of you have to say about this>>>

Sounds good... but I do remeber you wanting to be able to have a chance of sinking a BB or AC... maybe make the odd's of hitting a mother ship harder with a destroyer present. Maybe the submarine attacker can decide if he/she wants roll a gerenal strike or targeted strike. Targeted Strike would have worse odd's.

Or: If you don't have the 1 cycle of combat rule or I guess you could... as you suggest destroyers present, no targeting... but if during the process of the battle... you sink all the destroyers you can then target at will!

I had posted this problem. I proposed that each CV and BB can be screened out by a matching destroyer or cruiser unit at a famous 1/1 basis .
Secondly, CV's take two hits, so they too will have to be hit twice by the subs to go down.
We really need an Axis and Allies World War one game so i can play that on August 1st, 2014.

Another way, with less bookkeeping. If a DD is present it can be declared to be screening a particular ship and thus remove that ship from the target list. Two DD's could protect 2 specific ships and so on...
