In my tradition of responding to old news, here I go again. Oslo wasn't very much of anything. Germany captured Norway early and it wasn't liberated until after Berlin was in ruins right? So why shoud it be a VC? And Italian Somaliland has about the same level of importance to the war's outcome as the German colonies did in WWI. Nice to look at but essentially unessential. I do like the idea of increased activity in Africa however. It adds that extra theatre of conflict that is usually lacking in the game. Italy vs. Britain was a hot area very early on. Imagine if the Afrika Korps had taken Cairo, this would have opened the way for Italy (with what German help remained after the Korps whould have presumably left for the Middle East) to try to recapture Somaliland. Could Mussolini have saved face by recapturing his modest colonies? I like the idea alot.

Sorry to keep posting on old news! It's just so easy to get swept up in these conversations I guess...

Oslo was pushed by our Adlertag and its important for many reasons:

1) german secured her northern borders

2) the territory secured its imports of iron ore from neutral sweden

3) it was a base to attack shipping lanes ( mostly the murmansk convoys)

4) it stationed german warships and forces the british to emply more ships in scapa flow. This was largely a strategic move.

5) it kept german the potential ability for hitler to sent troops to finland rather than wait till better weather in the baltic. The baltic is very cold and not fun to transport stuff in these waters.

Okay I can agree with that. It also adds a northern victory city thats not in Russia. What was the decision for the Italian cities? And, forgive me if I missed it, when is this game expected to be finished? I expect it after all the games like D-Day, Bulge, etc are made, right?

I think / hope this advanced game will be after the next one..guadalcanal (really looking forward to this one)

Seems like the reasoning for the VC structure was more based on historical opening influence and then later theatre themes.

Is there a map with all the cities on it that I can see?

nothing has been made except elbow did draw some lines on one of his maps to show how things might look.

actually Larry stated in one thread that he was drawing the map... but it might have been some attempt at a joke.

The entire project was pushed aside out of thin air but all the concepts do remain. In fact larry did establish some hardcore sub detection rules and ship interactions.
