Marshaling cards and tokens

This is the new classic game of Axis & Allies. Designed for 2-5 players, the game is set in 1942 – the historical high-water mark of Axis expansion.

Marshaling cards and tokens

Post by skinny1 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 12:29 am

I was wondering why marshaling cards and the number tokens were not included with AA42 like in AAR? :? The spaces on the new board are a little smaller. I use the marshaling cards and number tokens along with the tokens for the plane flight path from AAR and the damage tokens from AA50 to put under the damage on the IC caused by SBR. Also, the victory city board from AAR has been copied, laminated and put in my AA42 box for use when the game is being played.

I like this game and would have paid the price that AAR was to have official boards and cards included in AA42.

The goal with AA42 was to create a base A&A game that would have the widest appeal possible. This required a low price, which in turn required eliminating any components that weren't deemed "essential". This resulted in the inexpensive, lean version that we have now.

I copied the things that I thought were essential from AAR and AA50 to include with AA42. Is that ok or is there a copyright issue in doing so? I placed them on my scanner and printed them out then glued them (cards and tokens) to 3 glued together thick sheets of index cards. The tokens turned out pretty thick and stiff and the marshaling cards were done the same way but I also laminated them, along with laminating the victory city chart from AAR.

All of that is fine as long as it's for your own use. It's when you try to make money off something like that that you run into a copyright problem.

Look give me a number, not for quality, but, for play purposes, how much is 1942 alike the Anniversary A&A set(in percentage if you can), thanks, Pellulo

It's like playing Anniversary rules (minus China, Italy, NOs and tech) on the Revised map, if that makes any sense to you.

Will you think the missing parts e.g. China, Italy, NOs and tech, will show up in some 1939/1941/1943/1944/1945 future game(even as a booster pack, for the current 1942 game)?

This game is some sort of poor man's Anniversary Set or is it another revised revised Axis and Allies game, thanks, Pellulo
