AAP40 Bombardment

This game, measuring 35”x32” is compatible with the yet to be released Axis & Allies Europe 1940 game (coming in August 2010). This game includes newly introduced units such as mechanized infantry and tactical bombers.

AAP40 Bombardment

Post by tominator » Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:41 pm

Since attacking warships cannot bombard if they are engaged in a sea battle, I have several questions:

1) Do defending fighters scramble before a bombardment or are they subject to bombardment first?
2) Since scrambled fighters defend in a "sea battle" to engage attacking warships, does this mean that the attacking warships are prevented from bombardment?
3) Can some attacking warships in the sea zone separately engage in the required sea combat while other attacking warships in the same zone intentionally avoid sea combat for the purpose of bombarding?
3) If a fleet is off shore of an industrial complex, can the defender continually ward off bombardment, turn after tunr, by simply producing a warship in that sea zone?

2) Yes.

This could be one of the reasons that coastal land tt AB can't scramble. It would really mess w/amphib if all you had to do is have one ftr to stop bombardment like for islands. It would make bombardment nearly obsolete w/o a special exception rule.

Just what came to mind when I read this.
