Bidding? Can you do this?

Post by frog » Sat Jan 11, 2014 11:28 pm

So this is only for people who use a bid to determine who plays what side.

My question is this. In using your bid, can you buy pieces that are normally not allowed to be purchased? My opponent took a 10 bid to be the Allies. He purchased one fighter for China. Thus he now started the game with 2 chinese fighters. We played the game but I wondered, if the rules did not allow for China to buy fighters during the game at any time, can he buy one with a bid?

What do those of you with bid experience think?

I would say no.

China isn't allowed to rebuild the fighter they start with. It is a special case unit. So it should follow that they can't use the bid to "purchase" another as part of a bid.

Just as they shouldn't be allowed to buy armor, etc. with the bid money.

It would be legal to still buy infantry and artillery though.
