Air Supremacy and US warship movement

Post by Lichgod » Sat Aug 23, 2014 12:58 pm

On offense, do allied fighters aid your air supremacy? Ex: French and Germany in contested zone. Only France has fighters. If the British enter the zone and attack the Germans, do they get air supremacy modifiers because of the French fighter? I say No, but some of my group thinks yes. I know this works on the defense, but the rules refer to “side” versus phasing player. Specifically from page 19, “If one side gains air supremacy either by being the only one with any fighters left, or was the only one to have any fighters at all, he or she gains air supremacy.” I realize on page 17, Conduct Combat covers “Only one power can attack…” However, some in my group are confused over the “side” wording. The quick answer should be No.

USA warship movement while neutral. Is it permitted for the neutral US warships to leave and go anywhere, anytime? We are unclear as the Errata says USA cannot enter controlled territories. What about sea zones? We compromised by saying they can sail but not enter any sea zone with a minefield.

Thanks!

Your ally's fighters don't participate in your attacks in any way. "One side" refers only to units actually participating in the battle.

US ships can move freely when the US is not at war, including into mined sea zones. They will not trigger mines, as they are not enemy ships.

Hmm, they will not trigger mines because they are neutral. How interesting.

The Germans still want American products, so they pass plans of their minefields to the US Embassy.

I still think a neutral USA should not have a turn, but a bigger base income. Also the automatic war entry should not be triggered unless Russia is out of the war (or in revolution), as Wilson did not wish to support one absolute monarchy against another.

In the real world, mines do have this terrible tendency to break loose. Also, navigation was a bit more imprecise that now. And that does not say anything about British mines. Both sides in the real world mined the area around Helgoland to a fare-the-well.

What about 30 IPCs for US from R4 on?

The Production would equal the oob one in R9 and then become bigger and bigger..
R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 R8 R9 R10
20 40 60 80 100 120 140 160 180 200
00 00 00 30 60 90 120 150 180 210

Though I think it works better with 40 IPcs from R6 on:
R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 R8 R9 R10 R11
20 40 60 80 100 120 140 160 180 200 220
00 00 00 00 000 40 80 120 160 200 240

Edit: doesnt look very accurate sorry.. As a german zis makes me crazy!!
